Things To Do For Black History Month Day 15

Things To Do For Black History Month Day 15: Go To A Jazz/Blues Club

Jazz and Blues are two distinctly different types of music. However, both genres are uniquely American and both of them owe their existence to African-Americans. There have been tons of African-American Jazz and Blues legends. In terms of jazz, who doesn't know the names of Miles Davis, Charlie Parker, or Duke Ellington? And the blues still has some living legends like the great B. B. King. Neither genre is as popular as it once was, but you can still find music being played live if you know where to look. Check your local newspapers or online for jazz and/or blues clubs. If you can't get to a live club, then find some CDs. Also, both genres have been summarized in PBS documentaries.
