Things To Do For Black History Month Day 6

Things To Do For Black History Month Day 6: Visit A Black Church

Today is the first Sunday of February and it makes sense that today's thing to do is visit a black church. There is no religious experience quite like going to a predominantly black church, regardless of the Christian denomination. Worshipping is a fun, social activity. Participation is encouraged, whether through singing along with the choir or things like devotion or prayer concerns. Sermons can be loud, boisterous, humorous, thoughtful, and reserved. The best preachers are compelling enough that their words are forever remembered (like Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.). Black churches also serve as the base for many social outreach programs and the Civil Rights Movement would not have been possible without them. Services may be longer than some are used to, but the best ones are never boring. No matter your nationality, if you are a Christian (and even if you're not) and you like Gospel music, you will enjoy your experience at a black church.
