The Magical Mystical River

Continuing my whirlwind of movie watching (that’s what happens when you rent movies), my mom and I watched Mystic River. This is the movie that Sean Penn and Tim Robbins won Oscars for. Honestly, I didn’t really think this movie was as good as everyone said it was. The performances were very good and the story was interesting, but it didn’t really draw me in. The film’s pace and style were very low-key. Also, the few female characters are underdeveloped compared to the male characters. I guess it was an okay movie, but it’s not one I really want to sit through again.
