BitTorrent...A Computer's Best and Worst Enemy
BitTorrent is a P2P computer protocol that allows you to get various types of files without connecting to a network. It’s a great way to download stuff, as you can share single or multiple files. I’ve been using it for a while now and it’s allowed me to download albums, digisubbed anime, scanlations, programs, and other stuff. Lately, though, it’s been messing up on my computer badly. I’ve been trying to download the second soundtrack to Ghost in The Shell: Stand Alone Complex for days now. Each time I try to download it, the file would go for a while and then severely slow down (or freeze) my computer. I’d have to shut down the program or restart my computer in order to try again. It didn’t matter if I used the official client, or one of the many ones out there.
Fortunately, I figured out how to use it again. I had to use an unofficial client that allowed me to limit the connections to my computer. Once I did that, I had no trouble. I also uninstalled my firewall program, something I may reinstall to see if everything will still work okay.
