Preemptive Strike Against FOX

It’s time for more bashing of FOX Network, the network that greenlights great shows only to let them crash and burn. Thus far, Boston Public (which my mom and sister liked more than I did) and Wonderfalls (which I liked more than my mom and sister) have both been canceled. Arrested Development, another show I enjoy, is also on the potential cancellation watch. Now, it’s The Bernie Mac Show. On Monday, the back-to-back episodes of the show tied for the lowest ratings. FOX has seriously mistreated this show as of late. Apart from premiering it after the November 2003 sweeps (meaning that it had one of the latest fall premieres), FOX put it after The Simpsons. That isn’t so bad, as the post-Simpsons slot is one of the best on their schedule. However, then they moved it to Mondays. With the way they have treated this show, it’s difficult for people who used to watch it to find it. And it’s not like the show has gone downhill in quality. It’s still funny. But it’s the next show I fear FOX will abruptly cancel. Either way, the first season DVD release is slated for summer. And given that FOX has made money releasing cancelled series on DVD (Futurama, Family Guy, Firefly), they'll probably still release it, cancellation or not.
