R.I.P. Tony Jay

According to his official site, actor Tony Jay has passed away. You might not know Tony Jay by name, but you almost certainly have heard his voice. He narrated several projects and voiced numerous animated characters in his long career including the villainous Judge Frollo of Disney's The Hunchback Of Notre Dame. However, I will best remember him as the voice of the virus Megabyte on one of my all-time favorite animated series, ReBoot.

What I loved most about Tony Jay's voice was the way that he could sound so dark and evil yet so classy at the same time. It fit the character of Megabyte perfectly. Megabyte was a virus but at the same time, even he abided by a code of some kind. It's all the more sad that ReBoot never got the chance to get a proper ending before Mr. Jay's passing.

Tony Jay was 73 years old.
