If Any Family Needed A TiVo...

Ah...the new fall TV schedule is in full swing. Most of our favorite shows are starting their seasons. However, there is one problem with this particular season:

There are just too many shows we want to watch.

Our family is a TV-loving family. With little money for going to the movies, going to plays, family vacations, or stuff like that, TV is our main entertainment. We've had cable TV for almost as long as I've been around. We currently have about the best package we can get. The only channels we don't have are those Spanish-language channels that cost an additional $10 a month.

The main problem is that a lot of shows that we watch conflict with each other. Combine this with my sister being away at college and our cadre of VCRs get a huge amount of use. Let me give you an idea of what we're working with:

Mondays
7-8 p.m.: North Shore on FOX, One on One and Half & Half on UPN
8-9 p.m.: Las Vegas on NBC, Two and A Half Men (comes on at 8:30) on CBS, Everwood on The WB, Girlfriends and Second Time Around on UPN, Renovate My Family on FOX (I like it...but it's low priority)

Tuesdays
7-8 p.m.: My Wife & Kids and George Lopez on ABC, Gilmore Girls on The WB (Mom and Samone's show), Eve (comes on at 7:30) on UPN, Trading Spouses on FOX (again...low priority)
8-9 p.m.: Father of The Pride and Scrubs on NBC, One Tree Hill (for Samone) on The WB--note that Veronica Mars has yet to premiere on UPN, so that means that it could be a show we watch if it's actually good.
9-10 p.m.: Judging Amy (Mom's show) on CBS, and Nip/Tuck (also Mom's show) on FX

Wednesdays
7-8 p.m.: Smallville on The WB, Lost (potentially, if it's good) on ABC, That '70s Show on FOX (low priority)
8-9 p.m.: Bernie Mac and Method & Red on FOX, The Mountain (potentially) on The WB, Kevin Hill (potentially) on UPN

Thursdays
7-8 p.m.: Joey and Will & Grace on NBC, The O.C. on FOX
8-9 p.m.: The Apprentice (My show) on NBC, life as we know it (potentially) on ABC

Fridays
7-8 p.m.: Complete Savages (potentially) on ABC, What I Like About You (low priority) and Commando Nanny (potentially) on The WB
8-9 p.m.: Hope & Faith on ABC, Reba and Grounded for Life (Monie's show) on The WB(Blogger's note: I officially retract the notion that Grounded for Life is "Monie's show." In fact, it is quite the contrary. This blogger apologizes for the error and hopes he will check his facts better in the future.)

Saturdays
Mad TV on FOX, Saturday Night Live on NBC

Sundays
6-7 p.m.: King of The Hill and Malcolm in The Middle on FOX
7-8 p.m.: Extreme Makeover: Home Edition on ABC, The Simpsons and Arrested Development (my show) on FOX, Charmed (Mom's show) on The WB
9-10 p.m.: Desperate Housewives (potentially) on ABC.

Now, do you see what I mean? And this doesn't include any good shows or movies on cable (with the notable exception of Nip/Tuck).

Do we watch too much TV? Probably. But, at least the majority of these shows are actually good. There's no According to Jim on this schedule.
